Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adélaide Jouët in the Epernay region of Champagne. Pierre’s family owned a cork business already supplying the wine trade, they also owned a selection of vineyards which the newly married couple used as the start of the business and within a year of their marriage they had started producing Champagne under the name Perrier-Jouet.

Adélaide focused on the cultivation of the vineyards and the wine making whilst Pierre’s was dedicated to sales and marketing. This winning combination saw Perrier-Jouet branching out and starting exports to the UK within just 4 years and later exporting bottles across the Atlantic to America in the 1830’s.

The floral design that adorns both the perrier-jouet logo and the prestige belle-epoque vintage bottling was added by the third generation owner, Octave Gallice. Octave spent most of his time in Paris during the Belle-Epoque period which during a period of social stability saw an advance in the arts. It was during this time Emile Gallé was appointed to create artwork for Maison Perrier-Jouët, drawing on passion for botany to imagine a spray of Japanese white anemones. The artwork became the house emblem and the rest is history.
