Blended Malt
Not to be mistaken with blended whisky, blended malt whisky can only be made from combinations of whiskies made only with malt, no grain allowed. Master blenders take the best single malt examples they can find from around Scotland and combine them to create a unique and consistent flavour profile. Blended malt fell out of fashion for a while, as the pendulum of taste swung back towards single malts, however popularity has grown once again and the world has realised that there is plenty of room on the stage for both.
So which is better single malt or blended? An often argued question, but it doesn’t really work like that, the two are very different animals, it would be like arguing which is better a single tree or a whole forest. Both are equally as impressive and both reflect each other’s qualities. Blended Malts take the very best of the single malts and combine them to become something new, imaginative and well worth exploring.
