Veuve Clicquot was created by a marriage between two families. Two successful textile business owners, Baron Nicholas Ponsaradin, a textile maker, and Phillipe Clicquot, a textile merchant, who also had a side hustle in vineyards and wine production, arranged for their children (Francois Clicquot and Barbe-Nicole Ponsaradin) to marry back in 1798. Phillipe had established his wine business and vineyards in 1772 but was never his true focus but after the marriage, Francois was made a partner of the business and with focus and energy the wine business began to flourish.
In 1801 Francois gained full control of the business when Phillipe chose to retire, the orders continued to grow as Francois expanded and created an International business. Then tragedy hit in 1805 when at just the age of 30 Francois died suddenly after a short illness. Grief stricken Phillipe wanted to fold the business but his widow, Barbe-Nicole, had other ideas and formalised a plan to take over the business. After much convincing and following a successful wine making apprenticeship she was ready to take control of the business and in 1810 Veuve Clicquot-Ponsaradin was born.
Barbe-Nicole Ponsaradin wasn’t just successful, she was a trial blazer. Madame Clicquot as she became known was responsible for leading an International business, securing the finest vineyards to allow further production, establishing foreign markets and building the brands reputation by supplying Royalty and dignitaries all across Europe and beyond. Not only had she built the Champagnes reputation, but she built her own often being referred to as La Grande Dame – The Great Lady. In 1972 the champagne house created the Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame prestige cuvee to celebrate the history and the influence that she had on their business.

We treat all personalised bottles individually, taking our time and experience to set out your message to create the most impactful bottle decoration possible. This may include increase the size of some fonts within the message to pay particular focus on key lines or phrases, spacing message over extra lines and removing unnecessary punctuation.
If you can type it, we can engrave it! When using alternative languages it may be neccessary for us to alter the font to ensure all characters are supported, in these cases we use the closest style font to your original selection.
Unfortunatley we are unable to engrave emoji's or picture characters. Where these are added the character will be removed from your message.
We specially select the fonts we use. Once a bottle has been engraved the cut glass is then infilled with a special decorative silver paste. These fonts ensure we provide the optimum width and depth during the engraving process to creat maximum visibility once infilled.
The fonts we currently use are: Lucida Calligraphy, Lucida Handwriting, Verdana and Segoe Print.
