Gosset is by far the oldest wine house in Champagne dating back to 1584 and the town of Aÿ. At that time Gosset produced some of the finest still wines and where enjoyed by the most noble households across France, but by the 18th century Gosset joined their neighbours and began to make sparkling wines. It was at this time that the house adopted the unique antique flask-shaped bottle that is still used today.
Gosset’s wines are characterised by their purity and expressiveness. Grapes come mainly from premier and grand cru vineyards surrounding Epernay and their winemaking style is characterised by minimal intervention, extended ageing and no malolactic fermentation. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the house’s focus.
In 1993 Gosset was bought by Renaud Cointreau, a family owned business and also the owners of the Cognac brand Frapin. The new ownership have ambitions to grow production and storage capacity to over 2,500,000 bottles but are doing so in a way that protects the heritage, quality and character of their wines.
Gosset can also be photo engraved, an offering exclusive to Prestige Drinks. We take your photograph and convert it into a map of thousands of tiny laser cuts of varying sizes and depths which when painted provides a detailed full grey scale replication of your image. The photo engraving is perfect for any special occasion and is available on photo engraved Gosset Grande Reserve Brut and photo engraved Gosset Grand Rose.
