Don Fulano is produced by the Fonseca family, whose heritage in agave farming and tequila production stretches across five generations. The family began cultivating agave in the highlands of Jalisco around 140 years ago, with the brand continuing to work closely with mature agave and traditional production methods. Today, Don Fulano is produced at La Tequileña distillery in the Valley of Tequila.
The Blanco Fuerte was created to give a particularly direct expression of the agave and the work of the distillery. Don Fulano describes it as the “Original Overproof”, with its higher bottling strength allowing the spirit to retain a powerful concentration of aroma and flavour. The production combines carefully selected mature agave, proprietary yeast and natural spring volcanic water in what the producer describes as a low-intervention approach.
The agave is fermented before being distilled in copper stills, producing a spirit that is intensely aromatic yet balanced by floral and herbal characteristics. At 50% ABV, Blanco Fuerte sits considerably above the standard 40% ABV of many tequilas, making it particularly suited to drinkers who want to explore the more concentrated side of the spirit.
From the first pour, Blanco Fuerte is deeply aromatic, with sweet cooked agave joined by fragrant orange blossom and jasmine, ripe raspberry and fresh herbal tones. The palate is full-bodied and energetic, bringing together rich agave sweetness with black pepper, cinnamon, mint and delicate floral flavours. A subtle mineral quality and earthy character help give the spirit structure, while its elevated alcohol strength adds warmth without overwhelming the underlying agave. The finish is long and generous, leaving lingering peppery spice, cooling mint, floral notes and a persistent cooked-agave sweetness.
