Tesseron Cognac has existed since 1905 as a small producer of prestige cognacs. Founded by Abel Tesseron with a guiding principle of quality over quantity, he set a policy of ageing stocks and building an inventory of old and rare vintage Cognac which would be traded with other Cognac producers. Tesseron’s aged stocks remained a hidden Cognac trade secret for over a century but in the early 2000’s the third generation, Albert Tesseron, made the decision to release their award winning cognac to the public under their name, a decision that would forever change the course of the family business.

Tesseron Cognac is produced from grapes of vineyards in the two smallest and most prestigious appellations of Cognac; Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Tesseron operate from 40 hectacres over the two areas and are one of the last Cognac houses that still grow and use the three Charentais grape varietals of Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombar. Ugni Blanc is the main grape variety of Cognac and forms the basis of all great Cognacs. Folle Blanche and Colombard have almost all but disappeared from the Cognac region as they are difficult to grow and produce much lower grape yields, Tesseron continue with these varieties as they add a finesse, complexity and extra taste dimension to the final blend. Tesseron remains a family run business, now with a 4^th generation involved in developing the brand and extending the product range. Tesseron always produced Cognac that was classified XO Cognac or Prestige Cognac but under the influence of Noe Tesseron, the 4^th generation, they have recently added a VSOP Cognac.
