Gold rum is aged in charred oak in the same way dark rum is, however with less time spent in the barrel a golden colour is achieved, more flavourful than white rum they are generally considered to be medium bodied.
Not to be mistaken with spiced rum, although many spiced rums are gold in colour or darker.
