The original 'Pink Gin' was a 19th Century cocktail made with Plymouth Gin and Angostura Bitters. The dark red of the bitters gave the clear gin a bright pink tinge which made the drink stand out. Today a pink gin covers any blush-coloured gin, including liqueurs and gins given their colour through botanicals.
