Aberlour whisky is produced in the small highland village of Aberlour, Scotland. The village is located where the Lour Burn joins the River Spey making Aberlour a Speyside whisky. The Aberlour distillery produces single malt whisky.

The Aberlour distillery dates back to 1879 when serial entrepreneur James Fleming secured a long lease on land from the Earl of Fife, the location that would eventually become the Aberlour distillery. The distillery was built and operational by 1880 but Flemings ownership was short lived and in 1892 the distillery was sold, the first of a number of ownerships until it was sold to the French spirit group Pernod Ricard in 1975.

Pernod Ricard acquired Aberlour distillery to tap into the French’s passion for scotch whisky, the French drink nearly twice as much as the UK each year, and Aberlour is by far the biggest whisky brand in France.
